Ananda is an experienced and well-qualified audit specialist, a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, UK, a Fellow Member of the Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka. He also holds a Master of Commerce (Research) degree from the University of La Trobe, Melbourne, a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a Diploma in Public Financial Management. He counts more than forty years of professional experience in the field of auditing and accountancy.

Ananda started his career at the Auditor General’s Department, served for 39 years, and retired as the Deputy Auditor General in 2019. He was also in charge of the administration and finance divisions of the National Audit Office. Ananda specialised in environmental auditing and has participated in several training programmes and seminars in Russia, Turkey, Brazil, and Indonesia. 

Ananda has more than 5 years of consultancy experience and served as a team leader and senior advisor for the USAID Partnership for Accelerating Results in Trade National Expenditure and Revenue Activity (PARTNER) in Sri Lanka, implemented by Deloitte Consulting Overseas Projects LLC, USA. He provided technical leadership for the USAID PARTNER project to initiate and implement development and capacity-building programmes for various ministries in Sri Lanka. He was engaged as the team leader to manage the development initiatives with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), Sri Lanka Institute of Biotechnology, Ministry of Finance, Department of Project Management & Monitoring, and National Audit Office of Sri Lanka.

His roles and responsibilities as the team leader include scoping for potential development initiatives requiring USAID technical assistance in consultation with government officials; preparation of a detailed work plan including activities, budgets and staffing; engagement in recruitment of consultants and coordination with government entities to deploy them; provision of technical assistance to develop training material and other documents; and liaison with the project management office and USAID Sri Lanka office for effective implementation of the projects.
